Big History EP Coming This Summer

I first got in touch with the indie rock, dream pop band Big History at this past year’s Crawfest at my school, Tulane University in New Orleans.  I loved the combination of smooth, dreamy vocals from lead singer Meg Roussel and the guitar, drums and synthesizer provided by the rest of the band.  Their live show was great and the way they moved the crowd was chilling.  It really made me proud that they are an emerging band from New Orleans, as it is now my adopted home city.
The first two singles released by Big History were All At Once and Every Bone (click for video).  When I was given the assignment to write a short article about the band, I went on YouTube to refresh my memory of the band and their music.  I cannot tell you how many times I replayed these two songs, listening carefully to the lyrics each time and I felt really inspired.  All At Once is a very introspective and I fell in love with the song’s airy hipness and the soulful voice of Meg Roussel.  This song really dug deep in me, making me think about their intentions with the lyrics and how I view them within myself.  I love it when a song has the ability to do that.  Every Bone made me further appreciate her voice and admire the band’s ability to write music and accompany it with a great eclectic blend of electronica and folky rock.
I love their unique indie sound and am looking forward to more releases by the band and maybe with the help of Max, get another show together back in New Orleans. They have finished recording their first EP and are expecting to release it before the end of summer, it can’t come soon enough.

Check out All At Once:
