Kendrick Lamar, a young and talented rapper out of Compton California is beginning to make a buzz off of his Average Joe name with the help of some well established artists in the hip hop industry. Kendrick Lamar has already been cosigned by Dr. Dre as well as Snoop Dogg and J Cole because of his somewhat old school west coast sound. Both Dr. Dre and J. Cole have projects coming out in the near future with Lamar (Detox with Dr Dre, unnamed mixtape with J. Cole). Lamar was featured in this years edition of XXL Freshman 10 and took full advantage of this exposure. Kendrick is well liked for dodging the bullets of Compton and still having that gritty and tough California mentality. I recently became a big fan and supporter of Kendrick Lamar after downloading Overly Dedicated, everything from the beats and productions is just old school west coast rap. There has not been a single track from Lamar which he has not given his heart and soul. His latest single entitled Hiiipower touches many conspiracy theories at the same time referencing late African American leaders. Kendrick Lamar’s much anticipated debut album titled Section 80 does not currently have a release date but he is widely promoting it on twitter and has also released his first video for the song “Hiiipower” off the album which was produced by J. Cole.
